Why is maltodextrin used in some of Unicity’s formulations?

Maltodextrin is used in small amounts in some of our products to ensure the powders are free-flowing and the bioactive compounds are stabilized when the products are manufactured on metric ton scale. The maltodextrin used in our formulations has a low dextrose equivalent (DE), which means it doesn’t rapidly break down into glucose (i.e., sugar) in the gut. Maltodextrins of this type are sometimes called resistant maltodextrin.
