Is too much protein bad for my kidneys?

If you have pre-existing renal disease, excessive protein consumption can be a concern. Discuss with your physician what a healthy level of protein would be for your individual situation. However, if you have normal kidney function, there is no significant evidence linking excess protein consumption to renal disease. The changes that do occur in the kidneys with high protein intake in healthy individuals is believed to be a normal adaptation that is well within the capability of healthy kidneys.
